Hey hey!
I just got back from a spontaneous* trip to Orlando (where I call home), and I was in a conversation that got me thinking...
I was talking with one of my dad's friends at my house, and he was telling me how his son went through the whole premedical process, and decided that premedicial wasn't what he wanted to do, and how he was quite disappointed.
I started to think, and I think that his son did a very wise thing. Being premed, and wanting to go into the medical profession isn't a 'job' -- it's a lifestyle. Depending on the type of medicine you do, you could be the head-residents in-house servant for a decade, your life will surround your patients bodies and their fears, and you may get to a point where you don't sleep for days - not because your bed is hard, but rather because your shift is 30 hours long. It's something that I am looking forward to, but it's not for everyone, and that's okay. :)
Life is a path, and we all have choices - but do whatever it is you need to do to find out that path. A lot of students come to Emory thinking they are premed, but then they switch to something else - Something else that is going to make them happy.
There is nothing like having a bad doctor out there. You know how it is... you know how when you go to see a doctor, and you can just tell that they are tired, don't want to be there, and are just dreading the day - those are the people we don't want to be! :) There are enough grumpy people out there because of their job - find something you like... no wait - something you LOVE. It may not be easy - but if you want it bad enough - you'll get it.
A very wise man once told me,
"Who ever said life was going to be easy? Chin up and keep on walking kid, you have goals to fill!" ~Ravi Bahl (my dad).
Just some written tought before I start my BioChem studying (wha-whoo!)
"Imagine all the people sharing all the word. And you, you may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one." ~John Lennon
eMail me
*I call it a spontaneous trip because I was sitting on the couch (the first time in a while), and I didn't like that - so I called my buddy Brian, and 30 minutes later we were in the car to Orlando. Oh - this was at 8pm... we didn't get in till 3:30am. Awesome.
